Mark, it is always a pleasure to actually live with you some real Japanese experiences while reading your articles! I keep adding items to my "to do list" for our (hope soon!) next travel to Japan.

Wow! That was so interesting!!! Yet? Scary, for me... LOL! My very first “traditional style Japanese dinner” [in typical Japanese accent, of course] was very daunting!!! Can’t imagine going through what you’ve explained here... but would certainly enjoy partaking!!!

Love your posts... brings back fond memories of Dick’s and my experiences and culinary delights while in Japan with you...💕

You are a braver man than me! I loved the story about your amazing experience, but I am still going to set the cruise control for the speed limit in the far right hand lane rather than take the risk.

I did get to share a story about the time that we visited an elementary school in Japan way back in the day with my programming class just recently. They seemed very receptive to the idea that the class was done with an assignment when everyone in the class felt like they understood it. I am so grateful that lessons we learned over 30 years ago are still thought provoking now.

I have read this article with my mouth watering and my stomach clutching at the same time! It was the culinary parallel to swimming with sharks or jumping off a two story platform into the air while grasping a trapeze! Adrenaline producing and gut wrenching! Mark’s writing captured it perfectly!
