Rumors about the safety of the approved vaccines have been running rampant, just as Japan achieves the milestone of fully vaccinating 20% of its population.
Hey Mark, I was surprised and dismayed to see this. Pretty much everyone I met in Japan was smarter than this, but I guess I met mostly business and clinical professionals. I guess you can find Hillbilly Boyz anywhere, including Japan. The vaccination rate is crawling here now and the infection rates are zooming, especially down south. When the CDC said it was OK for fully vaccinated people to remove masks, the Anti-Vaxxer, Anti-Maskers took advantage by throwing away their masks even though they were supposed to keep them on. They are paying the price now since greater than 99% of recent deaths have been in un-vaccinated people. This is a self-correcting problem since they will all get infected and either recover with immunity or die. In either case they stop being vectors for transmission and factories for mutant variants. I don't want to be standing next to the guy who turns out to be Patient Zero for the variant that breaks the vaccine. It's all very depressing, but I am glad to hear you have been able to get a jab. Sorry for the rant but this sh*t is making me crazy. - mgt
Thanks for your comments. Yes, the current situation in the U.S. sounds frustrating. The contradictory advice (WHO vs. CDC vs. local authorities, etc.) about the ongoing need to wear masks must be confusing, as well. While I cannot wait to ditch masks, in the interest of personal safety, I definitely plan on continuing to wear them for a while.
