I love the notion of Japan open for business. The Japanese yokan maker Toraya writes their name horizontally from right to left and it took me a while to realize it wasn't Yarato.
As a new Japanese learner, deciphering katakana was hard enough..... never mind kanji!
For my first few months of living in Japan, I couldn't figure out for the life of me why someone would ever want to drink something called カルピス or ポカリスエット! :-)

LORDY, that’s funny.
Two of my favorite kanji, look-wise, are 夢 and 声 because their top parts are perfectly symmetrical but then their bottoms suddenly go crazy.
Regarding kanji, my kids always joked about why the face on the logo of Genki Sushi isn’t genki? 😉
